A fun little film set in the American Midwest. A location that always wants to be interesting.

We start with a somewhat introverted and clumsy Alex who likes to take pictures with an ancient camera.

We learn little else about his background. He assumes the American desert landscape offers a wealth of interesting snapshots and spontaneously decides to venture out to seek his inspiration. One night, while staying in a motel, he meets a very strange and volatile couple and manages to lose control of himself by getting caught up in their world.

We then follow his worried wife, who hasn't heard from Alex in over a week. She hires private detective Harrold to follow Alex's lead, hoping for a positive outcome. It all adds up to a fairly entertaining road movie, aka film noir, that succeeds. Perhaps the progression could have been a bit more subtle, but otherwise, the atmosphere and charm are quite enjoyable. Hitchcockian inspiration is indispensable, and towards the end, we draw inspiration from Lynch films like Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire. You'll quickly see which scene I mean.

Atmospheric setting, sometimes a bit creepy due to the desolate landscapes and abandoned buildings. I found the progression a bit messy, but the puzzle pieces did fall into place in the end. But that couple were 'night creatures', so vampires. He drank Alex's blood. I wonder what that ultimately had to do with the final scene.

But oh well, all in all the film turned out quite well, although I would have preferred a bit less repetition before it really got exciting. I even found it came across as risqué or humorous at times, and for me that detracted from the build-up of tension...

A slow film with pointless sexual innuendo. The director was undoubtedly inspired by Hitchcock. This film will be intended for a selective audience. In any case, it requires a great deal of patience from the public.
