A mediocre disaster movie with a large number of ridiculous moments and incredibly boring characters. Behind the scenes with Deep Water, it sometimes seemed like a competition to see who could come up with the most stilted dialogue and far-fetched moments. However, Renny Harlin's slick direction is not so much to blame, as his sense of pace and a number of decent effects hold up. Furthermore, the attempt to add some form of depth is understandable, but too predictable to stick. A major miss is the moment of the plane crash itself, in which the flying debris constantly hitting someone in the face creates unintended hilarity rather than intense urgency.

A plane crashes into the sea, and those who haven't yet perished in the crash, or the consequences thereof, serve themselves perfectly as shark bait. A bad, clichéd film with a bunch of annoying characters. It is well known by now that Aaron Eckhart likes to play the tough hero in mediocre trashy productions, but what Ben Kingsley is doing here is a bigger mystery to me.

Plane crashes and sharks! Yeah, just give me something Don't expect realism or heavy horror, just good old mind-numbing entertainment. Sure, better disaster movies have been made, and when it comes to sharks, Jaws naturally remains unsurpassed. Is this bad because of that? Yes, of course it is! Still, I can't get enough of this. Wreckage on the water and a bunch of AI sharks going berserk like psychos.
