In the 1970s, teenager Vera Brandes risks everything to achieve her goal. She wants to put the American pianist Keith Jarrett in the spotlight and have him perform at the Cologne Opera House. In January 1975, Jarrett became the best-selling jazz artist in the world with his Köln Concert album.

At 18, Vera Brandes [Mala Emde] has been working as an impresario for two years. Now she's thrown herself into arranging a concert for jazz musician Keith Jarrett [John Magaro], a musical genius who has previously worked with Miles Davis, among others. The recording of the concert became the best-selling album by a jazz soloist of all time, so it was clear from the start that it would be a success. This is mainly about the obstacles Vera and Keith had to overcome to make the performance a reality. A music journalist [Michael Chernus] regularly speaks directly to you to place everything in a (musical) historical context. The 28-year-old Emde is far too old for her role (her attempts at puberty never quite convince), but she partially compensates for this with boundless energy. Betts is much better as the tormented musical genius in this brisk, entertaining reconstruction of a key moment in the history of modern jazz.
