I Am the River, the River Is Me plot

In 2017, the Whanganui River in New Zealand was the first river in the world to be given the same rights as humans. This was the result of a more than 150-year long legal battle by the Maori, who see the river as their ancestors, as an indivisible and spiritual being. In this documentary, director Petr Lom takes to the river together with Māori river ranger Ned Tapa and a diverse group to learn more about how humans and nature relate to each other, and what we can learn from indigenous ideas.
