Their shared passion makes them rivals, until they decide to join forces and travel the world together. They want to elevate their sport to an art form and are happy to take life-threatening risks. Visually stunning documentary about 'robbertoppers' Angela and Ivan, a loving couple from Russia with a passion for illegally climbing high buildings all over the world. The relationship issues are not equally interesting everywhere, but the perilous adventures on top of all kinds of bizarrely high constructions are breathtaking. The climax in particular, on the prestigious Merdeka 118 skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, is a real nail-biter. Not recommended for people with a fear of heights.

Harold Lloyd's classic comedy Safety Last (1923) and the iconic photo 'Lunch Atop A Skyscraper' (1932) show that climbing tall buildings unprotected is nothing new. Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus are among the many modern daredevils who use social media to generate publicity for their breakneck tours and survive on the income. At Tatiana's initiative, the competitors meet. The result is a partnership and (we must assume) a loving relationship. This documentary follows the pair as they prepare and perform what will become their magnum opus: a tribute to Dirty Dancing at the top of the heavily secured Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur. Full of dizzying images (filmed with drones and bodycams) that can even give nightmares to small people with a fear of heights, but we only see fragments of the climbing, even though they sometimes spend hours doing it. In contrast to the Oscar-winning Man On Wire, there is hardly any attention to the history or physical training. Angela's obsession with the perfect photo in particular makes it clear that she is mainly concerned with money and satisfying her ego. The love story seems artificial and only reinforces the impression that this is mainly an ego project for the greater honor and glory of (and likes for) the two protagonists.

Beautiful documentary. The capers at height are beautifully captured and will be palpable in the stomach for many viewers. The preparations that are made and entering the forbidden area without being caught also provide extra tension. The relationship problems are somewhat less interesting. 3.5
