Elena Ramirez is an underprivileged prostitute who discovers she has a life-threatening medical condition. The men who pay Elena for her body do not know that she is dying. With nothing left to lose and a family that needs her to survive, she decides to leave Santo Domingo and follow a doctor, Mario Garcia, on a near-impossible journey to New York.
