As the user above indicates, it is a quite bizarre story, with much-needed twists that would be almost unbelievable even in fictional films, let alone in reality.

The biggest shortcoming is the choice to use the real people involved as actors for the reconstructions and at the same time let them talk about the events, so you know 1) who survives the story and 2) who the perpetrator is because that person does not get to speak unlike the people who do get to speak. Interesting choice by the director, but I doubt it was the right one.

A very exceptional story, but what always strikes me in these types of documentaries is how stupid the police are. Every day when I go to the store I walk along a sidewalk where a stalker shot someone a few years ago. It is a huge problem that is not always taken seriously enough, but of course it is also a huge problem.

Quite a fascinating documentary, nicely told and, above all, with many atmospheric images of the American interior. Those images in particular really added value to the viewing experience. Clearly told, although I quickly realized how the fork was in the stick (partly for the reason Bearzel already mentions, that one lady did not appear on the screen and was either dead or the perpetrator) so really the last part was not surprising. I would also have liked to know more about the 'why'. 3.5*
