"The world has gone sideways."
A family is on a sailing trip in honor of their son's birthday. Suddenly the oceans dry up, leaving them stranded on uninhabitable land with their boat. To make matters worse, they fall prey to flesh-eating creatures.

An unexplained event causes the oceans to suddenly retreat and a family is trapped at the bottom of the sea. An irresistible idea that might have worked better as a series; the film is ultimately neither fish nor fowl. The first half is fine, with artfully built-up tension and a number of genuinely shocking moments, but unfortunately things start to go downhill after that. Visually, everything looks acceptable, with solid special effects and cleverly chosen locations. The acting is also passable. But towards the end, things go seriously off the rails.
