Kommt ein Vogel Geflogen plot

Birgit Singer is an animal caretaker who puts the welfare of animals above all else. She bears the brunt of her family, funding the animal shelter, making it possible for her husband Nathan to get his doctorate, and striving to be a good mother to her daughter Sarah, who stutters. For Sarah, animals such as Marlene, a parrot, are especially important. For in them she finds acceptance and understanding, free from the torment that stuttering brings to human interaction. But Marlene, who herself suffers from a "speech impediment", adds extra pressure to Birgit's already demanding life.
