Helmer wrote and directed this dialogue-free comedy about gondola operators Nino [Nino Soselia] and Iva [Mathilde Irrman] who come up with games to break up the monotony at work. It’s basically a series of loose, amusing sketches built around a nice basic idea that Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle and Mabel Normand would have figured out in the 1910s. But they would have done it in no more than 20 minutes, and the result would have been much funnier. Helmer clearly didn’t know how or when to stop, hence the bizarre, abrupt ending.
