"The Man in the White Van" (2023) offers a rather interesting contrast between a faceless serial killer and the blossoming sexuality of a teenage girl. She's increasingly coming to terms with her own limits and potential, while he preys on her vulnerabilities like a predator. A nice 70s vibe. A fine leading role by a rising young actress. But "The Man in the White Van" (2023) fails to elevate its own themes. It even becomes a bit ridiculous when it suddenly turns out that this predictable pulp film was apparently made by a non-profit (?) organization for missing and murdered children. Complete with a hideous song in the closing credits.

A mediocre thriller with solid acting and a reasonably well-built atmosphere, but on the other hand, the plot is rushed. For example, more than half the film is spent on several years in which a white van mostly remains in the distance and occasionally parks in front of the house. Director Warren Skeels pays little attention to any kind of suspense, and the final escalation is very short-lived. The synopsis above essentially summarizes almost the entire film, which is a somewhat unfortunate elaboration of material that could have been quite suitable for this genre.
