The Swan plot
Peter Watson is a small and brilliant boy who loves watching birds. He is bullied by the two big and stupid bullies Ernie and Raymond who live in his neighborhood. Ernie got a gun for his birthday and wants to see what he can do with it. The darkness that haunts both Ernie and Raymond also affects Peter.

At a book reading with Wes Anderson part 2. I could taste more than the Henry Sugar story (which was visually more beautiful). The shorter running time and the slightly more interesting, less absurd and quite disturbing story were easier to enjoy. Fortunately there is Fiennes alias Dahl to reveal the meaning otherwise I wouldn't have made anything of it. Ultimately, this is about perseverance as a means to victory, perhaps with the martyrs of the Second World War in mind?

After the striking 'Henry Sugar', this Roald Dahl film adaptation is a bit of the same... but less striking. Unfortunately, it just isn't. Perhaps the novelty has worn off, or I don't like the story; I just don't know. After 17 minutes I didn't feel like the movie was finished yet... and suddenly there were the credits. A missed opportunity.

Of Anderson's 4 Dahl films, this is the least. Not interesting, not visually special and despite the 17 minutes still boring. That style is also really starting to irritate here. 1.5*.
