Sasha [Sara Montpetit] is certainly old enough in vampire years to take care of her own blood supply, but she just doesn't have the heart to kill a human in cold (or warm) blood with a bite to the neck. She meets Paul [Félix-Antoine Bénard], a suicidal teenager who likes to make his neck available. Is that the solution she is looking for? Black comedy milks a nice joke to the hilt, but doesn't have much to offer other than the amusing title. A favorite at the Venice Film Festival, which suggests they've never seen Polanski's The Fearless Vampire Killers. And this looks very pale (!).

The film starts with a scene in which a clown appears who is not funny and unfortunately that can stand for the entire film: the film uses the vampire genre to turn social conventions upside down in a well-known, satirical way (the child is no good if it doesn't want to kill) where the blood sucking of course actually represents sex (and the 'sensitive' girl who doesn't want to kill is actually still too shy to lose her virginity), but it's not really funny anywhere (What We Do In The Shadows ( 2014) is funnier). And just as the unfunny clown has little else to offer to amuse his audience, this unfunny satire also has little to offer: where a good story remains unpredictable but at the same time credible, this film is consistently unbelievable and at the same time predictable. The film may contain a mix of all kinds of genres – horror, comedy, romance, drama – but it fails on every level so that it is mainly a nothing film. The idea of the film - which is immediately given away in the title - that a good solution for 'good' vampires would be to commit euthanasia on people who are tired of life, is immediately the best idea of the entire film and is perhaps telling.

The long title is already great. Vampire movies are usually fun, this one certainly is, and Sarah Montpetit as the sensitive, blood-sucking romantic has the perfect look for it, I was already a fan of her impressive eyebrows. She can also act, which became clear in Falcon Lake. Nice movie with an original story.
