Magyarázat Mindenre plot

During the summer in Budapest, Ábel has to focus on his final exams, but focuses his attention on his crush on his best friend Janka. However, she has it for her history teacher Jakab. He is having a hard time with his life and work in Hungary and was rather opposed to Ábel's conservative father. The final exam becomes the center of a national scandal.

Abel [Gáspár Adonyi-Walsh] is preparing for his exams, including an oral history. Due to a total blackout, he ruins the oral, but the incident takes on a life of its own, because his history teacher Jakab [András Rusznák] asked him during that exam why he was wearing a nationalist pin. The consequences are unimaginable and Reisz and co-writer Éva Schulze cleverly reveal in episodes what those consequences are for Abel, his hopeful father [István Znamenák], Abel and his family, the school management and a young, ambitious journalist [Rebeka Hatházi] for whom this “story” is a gift from heaven with the commemoration of the Hungarian uprising approaching. The result is a sharp and extremely entertaining dissection of Hungarian society that still bears the scars of the communist era.
