It is 2005 and in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, 'Southerners' are demonstrating grimly against a racist society that regards and treats them as inferiors. When 'Northerner' Mona [Eiman Yousif] runs over a boy [Louis Daniel Ding], she panics and continues driving. Santino [Paulino Victor Bol], the child's father, follows her to seek redress, but is shot dead by Mona's husband Akram [Nazar Goma]. Because Santino is a Southerner, the police cover up the case, leaving Santino's wife Julia [Siran Riak] unaware that her husband has disappeared without a trace. Nagging guilt makes Mona decide to contact Julia under false pretenses in the hope of helping her and her son. That basic fact is a peg on which to hang themes such as the social position of women and the consequences of structural racism. Well acted and directed, but the story is quite superficial and therefore the denouement is not very surprising.
