Between Revolutions plot
In the 1970s, Iranian Zahra studies medicine in Bucharest. Soon she becomes good friends with a fellow student, the Romanian Maria. When the Iranian Revolution breaks out in 1979, Zahra returns to Iran, hoping to contribute to political and social change. A lot is indeed changing, although things are not getting any better, especially for women. Zahra will never return to Romania. But the friendship is not over; in the decades that followed, they wrote to each other a lot, letters about the unrest in their countries and the position of women, but also about the feelings of deep affection they have for each other.
