Confidenza plot
Pietro Vella works as a high school teacher and strongly believes in his ability to help students pursue a better future. The intelligent Teresa benefits greatly from his lessons. Years later, they meet again and begin a relationship. Teresa wants full transparency and thinks knowing each other's secrets will bond them for the rest of their lives. When Pietro opens up, the relationship is not long-lived.

Strange story that left me with mixed feelings.
On the one hand I couldn't do much with it because the story raises quite a few questions for me (is the burden of his secret really greater than her love for him, was his secret the result of his free way of thinking, fear is not a part of true love, does he have a soft spot for both women because they are rather freaky by nature?). On the other hand you can give it your own interpretations which makes it seem strong to me. I also think Teresa's character is portrayed strongly and freakily.
My take on it: Teresa finds the love of her life but is unable to share her life with him because of his past. The "deal" she makes where she essentially "forces" his honesty towards himself, his family and his life in general is very well done and shows her unconditional and true love for him. He should never have to doubt her word as long as he stays on the straight and narrow, which in my opinion makes his ultimate fear in the finale unwarranted.
They are certainly interesting themes, beautifully filmed and presented with a special character role by Rosellini.
