A slow-moving film that unfortunately gets going much too late. Within a running time of a whopping 103 minutes, that is particularly painful. Furthermore, the approach of directing duo Patrycja Kepa and Acoryé White is laid on far too thick. It should be clear that there is an underlying layer of social criticism, and Trinket Box makes little effort to convey it subtly. From that point on, the film meanders slowly forward towards the inevitable escalation. The acting is solid and convincing, but the whole thing never truly becomes memorable or engaging. After a week or two, you will probably have completely forgotten about it.
