Urge to Kill plot

A young woman is murdered one night on her way back from the cinema. Shortly afterwards, another murder occurs in which the body of a young lady is found in a shed. Hughie, a quirky and dimwitted young man, is suspected by the locals. This is because the girls were killed in an unusually brutal and sadistic manner and he has a penchant for collecting broken glass, believed to have been used in at least one of the attacks. However, the police cannot find any clear clues.
