Safety to Nome plot
Each February, four dozen athletes are invited to Alaska to embark on a journey that tests their bodies and minds, their will to succeed and their will to live. The Iditarod Trail Invitational is the world's longest, toughest and most remote ultramarathon, challenging participants to travel 1,000 miles across the Alaskan tundra by bike, foot or skis. This year, 26 racers will attempt the full distance. The fastest recorded time is twelve days. The longest is over 30. How willing are they to lose their toes, hands, or someone they love?

Entertaining but rather fragmentary documentary about a grueling race in Alaska, in which participants have to travel 1500 kilometers on foot, by bicycle or on skis on the Iditarod Trail, through an inhospitable area without any significant facilities. The documentary follows a number of participants during the race in 2017. The fantastically beautiful landscape, the sympathetic participants (including Dutchman Martijn Boonman) and the many hardships provide fascinating viewing material, but it is a pity that certain participants from image disappear, precisely at those moments when you would have liked to see more of them. Nevertheless worth it.
