Twelve-year-old Lidia lives with her older brother Alexo in a mining town. In their village, a strange disease is currently spreading among the male sex. In 1982, 11-year-old Lidia [Tamara Cortes] is cared for by a family of cross-dressers and transgender women with Boa [Paula Dinamacrca]. When miners fall seriously ill, they blame Boa and the girls with whom they have had sex. This leads to violent confrontations, shattering Lidia's view of the world in which she lives. Normally I'm not a fan of LGBTIQ films, often too predictable, but this is a positive exception. It has a South American feel and is set in 1982 when a new, unknown, deadly disease emerges. Soon, rumors spread that you can catch the disease if you are looked at by a transvestite. The protagonist is a 12-year-old girl who was once left as an orphan with a group of transgender people living together. A minor downside is that most of the women are played by male actors. Only the leader, Boa, is played by a real transgender actress.
