In Slovakia, a young investigative journalist is brutally murdered. When the police files of the murder investigation leak to the reporter's colleagues, they expose massive corruption. This extends to the highest echelons of Slovak society.

On February 21, 2018, 37-year-old Slovak journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnirová were assassinated at home. Kuciak had delved into the network of corruption within the political world, and his colleagues suspected (and feared) that the murder had been ordered by those in power. Family, colleagues, and other directly involved individuals are interviewed in this portrait of a corrupt state that also sharply criticizes the EU. Sernecki's reconstruction of the police investigation that tracked down the perpetrators is equally captivating and compelling.
