Thought the film was a bit too long-winded and deviated too much from "the main line". It reminded me of a spaghetti western in the present tense. Why? No idea. A relief after Indiana Jones, Oppenheimer, Miea

Viviane Amore [Linda Caridi] has invited family and friends to a surprise party for her husband Franco [Pierfrancesco Favino], who is taking early retirement tomorrow after 35 years of loyal police service. Ernesto [Martin Francisco Montero Baez], the son of colleague Dino [Antonio Gerardi], sees Franco returning from a jog. Franco stops to talk to someone in a car who drives off in a hurry after a brief conversation. Franco enters, takes the surprise and bursts into tears after a few minutes. A successful farewell party, you might think. What follows is a look back at the 10 days that preceded this, which put everything we've seen in a very different light. A surprising and intelligent scenario with a role that is perfect for Favino. A serious nail biter with an ending that I certainly did not see coming.

Agree with basically everyone above. Very solid and especially fans of the subgenre will enjoy it enough. Beautifully shot, good acting and a nice balance between tension and drama. The soundtrack was also very nice and indeed, thanks to the harpsichord (and the breathing), I think of Goblin (what good old times). Script and story are not very special, but still with enough satisfaction in the end. A weak 3.5 star.

Also highly recommended for people who are not yet very familiar with Poliziotteschi. I feel like it's been a while since one was made and the older films in the genre are better in some areas, but also a bit (logically) more old-fashioned and stiffer.
