Sometimes I Think about Dying plot

The young woman Fran likes to think about dying. That feeling brings some sensation to her otherwise sober existence. In the meantime, a new colleague has started at work, and she manages to make her laugh. They go on a date and there is clearly a spark between the two. Yet there is someone who stands in the way of their relationship and that is Fran herself.

Strange film. Boring too. Boring office movie. I would also think of death in one of those offices with that lame talk all the time. There appears to be more to all this nonsense, but still. An office where people are super enthusiastic about donuts and pastries all the time. Those are the highlights of that office. Fran works in that office and she thinks about dying. She also isn't much of a person with a personality and is very socially awkward.

Then she meets a guy, a happy jerk, a new colleague at work, someone who just wants to make the best of things and that shakes up her life a bit. Fran is someone who in response to what's your favorite food, I don't know. She has no interests and she thinks about dying. Daisey Ridley known from Star Wars plays this character very well. Difficult film to recommend, but sometimes there is a lot of heart/soul in it, such as the scene at the end with the former colleague she encounters and the final scene is interesting. But I find it difficult whether I can really recommend this film to anyone. Difficult film but original.

Character study about an introverted, shy young woman who blossoms little by little when she meets a new colleague at work. A beautifully subdued drama, which, in my opinion, is unnecessarily disturbed out of nowhere by hallucinations about death.

The film is a kind of romantic comedy, but of a gloomy kind: we follow a timid, introverted and withdrawn young woman who appears quite dead or depressed and also constantly fantasizes about death, but who does not so much want to die as she does not know how to live or to be a person at all ('someone') and therefore dream of not existing. However, she starts to come out of her shell and become someone when she gets a new colleague who she apparently finds very attractive and cautiously starts a relationship with him (paradoxically, she can only really express herself when she participates in an acting game, so does not have to express itself directly). It produces funny moments because she doesn't like anything and is honest about it, so she doesn't play an insincere role just to connect with others; In any case, the boring office life – her only life before she falls in love – always has something absurd, especially if you look at it as detachedly as she does.

The film seems to have the message that we are all waiting for the moment when we can really start living and expressing ourselves (such as after retirement) but that moment doesn't seem to come for some. Although it is a nice film with a prominent role for surrealistic elements that suggest symbolism of major issues, I was still a bit disappointed and expected more from it.
