A year after the outbreak of a global pandemic, a group of friends gather in the remote mountains to stay at a historic inn. What was meant to be a much-needed getaway and festive weekend soon turns into a nightmare. As the truth about the inn slowly unravels before their eyes, the group of friends are pushed to the brink of survival.

When it comes to horror, director Deon Taylor has still not managed to deliver above-average work. Fear, however, sets to work with a creative concept in which characters confront their greatest fears. This is complemented by plenty of figures serving as cannon fodder and a reasonable pace. The drawn-out introduction is thus forgiven, but the tedious middle section, unfortunately, is not. In the world of Fear, it takes a very long time before the first noteworthy scenes appear on screen, and the characters simply fail to command any concentration from the viewer. Fortunately, there are a number of bloody shots in between, along with a reasonably atmospheric setting and a solid finale. It is clear that a name like Taylor certainly knows his craft, yet he does not quite succeed in expressing this appropriately.
