Hálfur Álfur plot
On the coast of Iceland, lighthouse keeper Trausti prepares for his 100th birthday while his wife Hulda retreats into a world of forgotten poetry. They have shared a roof for over 70 years. Her love of books is matched by his love of stones. When Trausti tells his wife that he wants to change his name to Elf, she warns him that the family will abandon them. As his 100th birthday approaches and Trausti feels the hand of death on him, he sets out in search of an elf chest. Their grandson, filmmaker Jón Bjarki Magnússon, follows them in this documentary.
