The Takeover plot
When ethical hacker Mel Bandison defuses a data breach on a high-tech self-driving bus, she unintentionally shuts down an international criminal network. Suddenly Mel's life is turned upside down. She is chased by criminals, but then also by the police because a deepfake video shows up of her committing a murder. Mel can no longer go home and is wanted in a city where there is a camera on every street corner.

Moderate homegrown thriller. The story is of this time but lacks the intelligence, which sometimes makes it feel a bit childish. The effect can just go on. The beginning isn't even that bad. Tension and mystery alternate well and the chemistry between the actors is otherwise fine. Unfortunately towards the end it gets too predictable and the bus scene is way over the top, which doesn't fit with the rest of the movie. Brood shows her versatility and plays an excellent role. Lammers plays on the autopilot. Visually quite successful with excellent camera work. 3.0

This seems more like a cheap extended episode of a mediocre police series, the whole look and atmosphere of the film are reminiscent of that. A few mediocre characters (that villain, that woman from that company, Frank Lammers, little prick Weisz) don't help either. Bread is still doing well, but not more than that. Not much original. Only the tempo is still fine, the film looks away from the couch quite easily but doesn't manage to keep the attention. 1.5*.
