Jess, a divorced mother and nurse, moves with her daughter and young son Owen back to her family's old ranch. Shortly after moving in, Owen is bitten by the family's dog, resulting in a mysterious infection. When Jess discovers a troubling cure, she is put to the test and tested how far she will go to keep her child alive.

Nurse Jess [Michelle Monaghan] has just moved in with her daughter Tyler [Skylar Morgan Jones] and son Owen [Finlay Wojtak-Hissong] when the dog becomes infected from a tree (!) on poisoned land. That dog bites Owen and he soon turns into a mini monster with an insatiable appetite for blood. Jess initially uses the blood supply at the hospital where she works, but when the hospital notices something is wrong, Jess has to turn to more radical means. That her ex-husband Patrick [Skeet Ulrich] is now allowed to see his children on the weekends doesn't make it any easier. And certainly not more believable! Of course, sincere interpretations can never disguise the stupid scenario.

Usually gets bad reviews but I actually thought this was quite doable, of course not a top film but I still enjoyed it. Thought Monaghan didn't do a bad job on this one. There are indeed better films in this genre, but still a sufficient one for me....

Not wrong at all. In any case, the cast plays well, and that cannot be said for many horror films, so that is already a plus for me. I also liked the story quite a bit, and it was captivating enough to hold my attention. Furthermore, it also just looks neat. Well worth enough.
