In the musical and cinematographic odyssey 'L'Amour la Mort', based on personal love stories, the secret bond between love and death is examined. Some characters talk about the sudden loss of a loved one, taking care of a partner with dementia and the search for true love. Why do we keep striving to find love when love can hurt us so much?

Although the opening suggests that this is a science-based view of love, sentiment and (at least for skeptics like me) pretentious philosophizing about love prevail here. Conversations about relationships alternate with a hodgepodge of musical odes to love and a few scientific reflections. But unfortunately we don't get to know much about the results of the investigations, also because Gieling seems to be mainly concerned with endless bullshit about love and how beautiful that can be. But I prefer to agree with Peter Schreiber: don't expect a sugary sweet or sweet sound from me, because those butterflies are now coming out of my nose and ears. But hey, naive romantics think very differently about that.
