Ash and Bone plot
Cassie Vanderbilt is a self-destructive teenager dealing with the death of her mother, a new stepmother and a strained relationship with her father. To reconnect with her, her father decides to spend the summer in the beautiful countryside of a village, away from the bad influences of the big city. But this village holds a terrifying, deadly secret that has been kept hidden for more than a generation by the most infamous family in the village.

Ash and Bone is a film that piggybacks on the recipe of, for example, TCM. It purely bets on the concept of a number of protagonists who are attacked by madmen deep in the forest or on top of the local mountain. That is not particularly successful here, but director Wallen aims just a little more for entertainment and attempts are made for some filth. Movies based on TCM-like scenes obviously don't have to focus on the visual aspect, but this movie in particular could have been a bit more interesting to the eye. Picking up your camera and planting it in the forest is just too easy. In addition, at 98 minutes, it goes on just a bit too long. With a more catchy pace that would have been less of a problem, here it will eventually be a long time. Still, compared to a lot of other horror these days, this was not too bad for me.
