There are fun moments in it and Dever is really a rising star on both comedy and drama. Clooney and Roberts are also having a good time. In this genre you cannot escape the clichés and predictability. Would have been more if the jokes weren't so obvious and also, for example, the beerpong scene was too much.

We had free tickets for this movie so we went to see it. It was a nice movie, not terribly surprising, but this is usually not the case with this genre. Nevertheless, we were not bored and had to laugh every now and then. The cast did well and the setting was beautiful, you would want to go to the island that way too.

About as disappointing as I feared.

It might have been a fun movie without Clooney and Roberts, but their characters are ugly, and they don't play very well either. Huge contrast to the youth - Dever and Bouttier, who do want to make something out of it, not just self-centered all the time, and are actually much more fun. The performance of the over-titled old wives gives you a huge vicarious shame - because that is of course exactly how our ancestors behaved in Bali. Stuff your mouth full of food as the natives try to pay tribute to a civilization that is thousands of years old.

So is the movie. Disrespectful stuff without nuance, unpleasant stuff from a bunch of scumbags lifted over the horse, and bloopers during the credits. Honor where credit is due.
