The Waiter plot
The taciturn and aloof Renos is a lonely professional waiter. Above all, he is a creature of habit. He finds solace in his meticulous routine and caring for his special collection of houseplants. The delicate balance in the orderly life of Renos is one day disturbed by a gruesome find in the quiet, nocturnal Athenian streets. When Renos must deal with a missing neighbor, a creepy stranger and a cryptic brunette, Renos must find the strength to deviate from his sacred routine and reevaluate his life. But does the waiter have what it takes to sacrifice the safety of his habit?

Weird, slow, character study, photographically great, ominous. Krikris worked as an actor with Lanthimos. His influence is noticeable. Yet Krikris does not want to classify himself/his film under the heading “Greek Weird Wave”. Difficult with such a weird film 
although I've seen weirder.

The film does start strong, nice how that tightly regulated life of the main character is shown simple and bare. you also get to know him as someone who can do his own thing, in many ways. Adjusting a knot yourself, that sort of thing. To give an image of someone. And then something happens that gives a ripple. Not an original angle, but in this case also unfortunately a moment to move towards more absurd cinema. For me it became less and less exciting what was happening and those 104 minutes feel long. Visually fine, reasonably acted too, but often not interesting or even fun. 2.0*.
