Third film adaptation of the 1949 book of the same name, it gives the whole thing a Latin American touch and has been modernized a bit here and there, but the basic story remains the same. Billy Herrera [Andy Garcia] is an immigrant who, he likes to proclaim, arrived in the US with just a few cents and through hard work has now managed to build his own house. But his wife Ingrid [Gloria Estefan] has been trying to convince him for years that their marriage is suffering from his obsession with materialism. On the day when Billy and Ingrid want to give their children the painful news that they are getting divorced, their eldest daughter (and the apple of Billy's eye) Sofia [Adria Arjona] announces that she is getting married. She is also moving to Mexico to work as a lawyer for the rights of migrants. Billy is in danger of losing everything and decides to put a stop to it. Those who are not familiar with the previous film adaptations will probably be able to get through an evening with this, but Garcia cannot of course match Spencer Tracy. So for everyone: watch the 1950 version.

Looks really nice... Well played mostly, nice surprises... At the end just too unrealistic in terms of cooking and harmony, etc.....

Terrible Hollywood pulp where all the clichés come to the fore again. Yes, of course the bride is beautiful again and her "weird" sister is even more beautiful, and oh boy, one is handy and smart and the other is clumsy and creative. What a tragedy for daddy. And let's zoom in on those beautiful big puppy eyes of the ladies. And yes, of course the father is very rich and the house is gigantic, the viewer should be able to dream away in this wonderful life, oh if I could only live like this...! Furthermore, there is clear product placement of a car, which is clearly visible when superimposed twice - was I watching advertising? Oh no? Another model is also clearly visible. Distracts. The "drama" is also so predictable and standard, that really doesn't do me any good. Perhaps nice for a brain-dead moment to pass the time, but why waste time? You only have that once. Finally, there is a terribly irritating figure in the form of the groom's skinny niece, brrrr, who is cringeworthy with her styled hair and grave head. No, a waste of my time.
