"The beginning of everything."
A girl wakes up in a huge and secret laboratory. There, the girl accidentally meets Kyeong-hee. The latter wants to protect her home from a mob that is harassing her. When the gang bump into the girl, they are overpowered by an unexpected force within her. Meanwhile, the people who work at the lab search for the girl who went with Kyeong-hee. Who is she and what do they want from her?

A big disappointment after the strong, virtuoso directed first part. Gone are the cool camera shots and the inventive action scenes; instead we are presented with a rather confusing superhero story, complete with an excess of flashy CGI and messy spectacle. Very bloody, yes, but because there is little connection with the characters this time, the more explicit scenes do not have the required impact. The film is also much too long, with many boring parts in which hardly anything happens. Hopefully the last part of the planned trilogy will make up for it.

A bunch of new characters mainly cause (more) confusion in this messy sequel to the masterful The Witch: Part 1 – The Subversion. This time, another girl [Cynthia] with special gifts is central and a manhunt ensues again. There is no tension and mystery this time, fortunately there is (once again) a spectacular, bloody finale.

Reasonable sequel. The story is fairly straightforward without much mystery. The elaboration is better dosed than part 1. The action is better distributed over the film and looks very good again this time. Only the scenes with the cars are a bit fake. The pace is high and the film flies by. The ending is nicely thought out and is actually the same as part 1. Too bad that this part offers little extra to the story compared to part 1, but in terms of entertainment it is better than its predecessor. 3.5
