The story builds up to a surprising climax, albeit at a slow pace. The slow build-up is necessary to get a better picture of the three female protagonists who act and manipulate in all kinds of ways based on their own interests or motives. As a result, the last half hour is also enjoyed by the two friends who fall into the trap due to selfishness of the plan their idol Harper Dutch has in mind. Convincing role by the way of Katey Sagal alias Peggy Bundy who plays Harper Dutch. But the two young ladies Alexxis Lemire (Leigh) and Abby Quinn (Jordan) also know how to fill their roles well. Such a movie! 6.5/10

It is now clear to me that Brea Grant's direction and I will not become friends, it is simply too inconspicuous for that. Just like her feature film debut, Torn Hearts suffers from the psychological structure, but the characters are so uninteresting that it doesn't come out at all. It is especially unfortunate that I did not find the tilt and escalation to be very credible, something that particularly undermines the justification of their motives. Katey Sagal's acting is not bad, but just like the two ladies, she is simply not unique enough to make a spectacle of almost 100 minutes continuously fascinating. In addition, the visual side of the film is devoid of color or any flair, making Torn Hearts mainly a game of waiting. Things liven up towards the finale, but by then it was far too late. Add half a point for Abby Quinn's convincing acting.
