What is it like to be autistic and non-speaking in a world that has already made up its mind about you? 'This Is Not About Me' tells the story of Jordyn Zimmerman. She dreamed of becoming a teacher and started out eager to learn at school, but was soon separated from the other children. Because she couldn't communicate, teachers thought she wasn't able to understand or learn either. Year after year her behavior deteriorated. She was restrained and placed in isolation. Jordyn was trapped in a system that inadvertently turned her life into a nightmare. Finally, at the age of 18, she gets help from teachers who see her differently and manages to reverse the fate and blossom.
