"The adventures of America's most electric leading man continue."
Until recently, inventor Ben worked at Nova Robotics. His subjects included the technological masterpiece Johnny Five, a robot with a brain, feelings and boundless energy. Today Ben tries to sell the toy version of Johnny Five on the street. Sandy, a department store purchasing assistant, really likes little Johnny Five and places an order for 1000 pieces. How is he supposed to do that in such a short period of time? Fortunately, the original Johnny Five, who was so homesick that he escaped from the factory, comes to the aid of his spiritual father.

"Kidnap humans and destroy the machines!"
A very good film. Technically much better than the first, but the story is a bit weaker. The acting is also better. The music is much better.
Johnny 5 is truly hilarious this time around! Especially at the end with those red eyes, he's just plain badass. Ben, with his terrible English, is also very entertaining and is played much better in this installment than in the previous one.
Overall a very good movie that is very humorous and entertaining.

The low average rating belies a decent sequel to the 1986 classic (4*). This time, it features a crime story in the big city, and only Fisher Stevens returns as the Indian Ben (he was banned from traveling to India for 20 years for this stereotype). Short Circuit 2 is a lighthearted comedy, and the scenes with Johnny 5 are often quite well done. It's still great that they made real robots for these films. The less demanding filmgoer looking for an hour and a half of light entertainment will find it useful. The content also fits perfectly with the spirit of the '80s.
