Reasonable.

Decent animation film, which looks away quickly despite the too long running time. It soon becomes clear that there is not really much originality hidden in it. The film is, seemingly without embarrassment, a hotchpotch of ideas from other films. One quickly recognizes elements from Moby Dick and Pirates of the Caribbean, but I also think of King Kong, How to Train Your Dragon and Pocahontas.

The style is not my thing either, although they do provide quite a varied spectacle with a different color scheme here and there. The 'monsters' are very child-friendly in design, and a good thing, because for the little ones the beginning seems a bit too violent to me.

A cross between How to train your dragon and Moby Dick, and apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that. The score was relatively high here and there was also a lot of appreciation elsewhere. But unfortunately it doesn't have the charm of the movies it refers to. And the animation is far from beautiful or special. Made for the small screen and it shows. A somewhat boring ride that takes too long and relies too much on dialogue and standard animation.

Quite an excellent animation film, but also one that has dived into the grab bag of already existing concepts and figures. Originality is hard to find in that area. Still, the whole adventurous seafaring thing saves the entire film and I could therefore still enjoy it.

In its entirety nicely done, colors nicely within the lines, and the color splendor in itself is varying. The pace was also good and the film never got boring. The moral is evident. Towards the end maybe a bit rushed where it suddenly went very quickly to exchange thoughts.

No frightening monsters, although the crab did his best, but for the smallest this is also best to do from about 6 years old or so.
