Quite entertaining and spectacular at times, with a very strong opening and halfway through a great action scene where a whole pack of vampires is exterminated with the help of Scott Adkins among others, but the plot is little and the humor is of laugh-or-I-shoot level. Jamie Foxx does his usual thing in the lead role but fails to take the material to the next level. The virtuosoly portrayed bloody action scenes should clearly lead the way.

Day Shift shows a humorous battle against vampires. Vampires abound, but the film has hardly any horrifying scenes. The classic vampire is gone. The emphasis is on action and comedy. Still, the film is a bit classic. He harks back to the buddyfvilm concept, which was much tried and tested in the 1980s.

Two characters who are very different from each other are forced to work together. One is a tough vampire hunter. The other a fearful accountant. The humor is of course up for grabs. Nice interactions are the result, in which I sometimes got the feeling that the autopilot did a large part of the work. All very nice, but also very easy going.

The story offers little in the way of content, but does play with a few pleasantly absurd lines. They are nice details that provide the story with some surprise elements. Don't imagine too much of it, because the big story is pretty uninspired. Just like the characters. The cast is enthusiastic and energetic. The uninspired does not come from that. It has everything to do with the interpretation of the cataks. They're so meaningless that you'll forget them once a scene is over.

The highlights in the film are the hectic battle scenes, always with humor as an important ingredient. Nice action and wonderfully hypothermic and also some grotesque humour. It is these scenes that make Day Shift a successful action comedy.

Friendly.

I think Netflix has somewhat given up on the upward trend it once had in terms of productions and is now also on average. Foxx seems to find this line comfortable, as it isn't the first time he's shown up in Netflix's latest productions. Day Shift is actually on a level for him.

The film certainly makes a pretty fresh impression in the first half by finding a reasonable balance in action, horror and comedy. The large dose of humor has certainly succeeded on the part of both Franco and Foxx. Loved the sharp dialogues. Snoop Dogg gets especially funny because it's clear that the man is completely high, which makes his big eyes especially inadvertently make you laugh.

The action scenes are nice and straight. The problem with this film lies mainly with the script, which finds it very necessary to give the best cool character of Foxx a whole background. A background that is far too serious to support a light-hearted film like this. It certainly appears in the finale, which is especially irritating with that little daughter, to be a terrible inhibitor for this production.

By throwing the serious nonsense through the fun nonsense, Day Shift is tougher than you would hope, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the film has some smooth action scenes. There may not really be a scene that is way above the level and that you really remember for a long time, but it is nice that the film understands quite well what entertainment means. However, it seems to have never heard of focus, which is a shame.

Intro to this film is crazy exciting, with new moves for the species of foe I've not enjoyed before. This is shaping up to be a fun ride with our main character and his buddy, and I'm sure the comedy is only to keep the Horror lively.

This ain't no spoiler, but they got my attention playing Body Count during a fight sequence. There is plenty of action, and it's gorily fun and also a blast to witness.

Plenty of laughs and a few unexpected giggles that I didn't plan The action and mayhem is inspired, and the commradarie is also very commendable.
