"A new documentary about Wuhan from Zhu Shengze."
A security camera films a number of ordinary streets in an ordinary city, except that there is hardly a person in sight. It's March 2020 and this is Wuhan, the city that will be forever linked to the virus that put the world on hold. Those opening images resonate in the rest of the documentary, in which the city is shown as a place that is constantly in motion. Life unfolds at a calm pace within long-held, stationary frames. They roll on the quay and swim in the Yangtze, the river that flows like an artery through the city.
