A compelling portrait of the homeless on the West Coast of the US. In San Francisco, LA, and Seattle, entire tent cities are springing up along roads, under overpasses, or in vacant lots. Survival is the standard there; there's no time for living. The backgrounds of the homeless are highly diverse: white, Black, transgender, addicted, and even mothers with children. They have all fallen into the cesspool of society, with little prospect of escape. There's a longing for a home, but sometimes also the sober realization that the high rents will eventually become unaffordable. Forty minutes is a short time for such a massive social issue. The drone shots and other camera footage convey a sense of alienation; those who camp in the gutter no longer belong.

Millions of others consume... The number of homeless people in the US will increase much more due to the corona crisis, is the gloomy conclusion at the end of the documentary.

I've been to the US six times now. It's a beautiful country, but it's truly awful to live in. For most, there's no American dream, but rather an American hell. And with our friend with a $300,000 ballroom, that only gets worse!

But this is important for making a documentary, but as has already been mentioned here, how these people end up on the streets, is enough being done to help them, their background, how did the problem become so big, etc., I'm definitely missing...
