Despite the nice cast, the film does not really manage to bring a Christmas mood. The jokes are mostly lame and the story about the family with the four sisters is not captivating. Luckily we still have Elizabeth Hurley with her sexy outfits and her nice dino pajamas. Talulah Riley is deliciously irritating and Nathalie Cox as hostess does a decent job. Kelsey Grammer (the father) and his young girlfriend Jackie (April Bowlby) also try to make something of it, but unfortunately the script is just too weak. 4/10

After the nice A Castle for Christmas, my wife and I threw ourselves into a second Christmas film and the first half hour went quite well, but after that it was a real fight to get to the end.

In theory the cast could be very nice but the script is so shockingly bad that you can see the desperation in the eyes of the actors. Kelsey Grammer was once fantastic as Frasier but in this role you can only feel sorry for him. The same goes to John Cleese to an even greater extent. Shockingly lame and painful sums it up.

Unfortunately, the women don't fare much better. Liz Hurley and Nathalie Cox compete to see who can smear the hardest, and only Talulah Riley gives a good performance.

Towards the end the film recovers a little bit but all in all this was a rush job that could have been much more. The first half hour was fun after that there is little left of all the good intentions.

Moderate

Christmas film with a family party that goes chaotically wrong as a common thread. I didn't find it really funny at all, except for a few moments. It came across as forced. I like humor, but this one just wasn't quite right. And there was no real Christmas atmosphere either. It was more of an accumulation of sketches and dry, vulgar jokes. Of course there was a story with an attempt to be emotional at one point, but there too it fell short in my opinion. Despite the reasonable cast of John Cleese, Kelly Grammer, Elisabeth Hurley, etc., they couldn't save the film. 2.5*
