The pace at which director Scott Jeffrey delivers film productions (2021 alone saw no fewer than 11 films by the best gentleman) more or less immediately reveals that Spider from the Attic has little substantive passion. Fans of suspenseful entertainment will also be disappointed, as the screenplay mixes in a significant amount of drama. So it takes a while before the spiders crawl out of the attic and even then the film has no highlights. The main culprit for the rather boring spectacle is the incomprehensibly dark lighting, which ensures that as a viewer you cannot actually see your hand. It was unnecessary, because the computer effects are seriously better quality than the average Asylum production (but make no mistake, it still looks terrible). Ultimately, the film is only 83 minutes long, but every second proved to be a real ordeal to get through. No fun, no style and no quirkiness, just cast members who seem to make a genuine effort to make something of it and deserve an extra half star.
