I really appreciated it all. Entertaining dialogues, nothing was boring despite everything being in one room. The subject is current and was presented mainly realistically. Sympathy and resistance alternated between both parties, with the ending being suggestive enough to know what happened. Nice cast with an excellent Derwig and one of Kooten who for once does not play an irritating role. Very good. *4.0

Screenwriter Lykele Muus insisted that this courtroom drama would focus entirely on the hearing in the title. That accusation concerns a well-known writer [Kim van Kooten] who was allegedly raped 25 years ago at the age of 17 by Fabian Ploch [Jacob Derwig], a politician who, according to polls, appears to be the new Prime Minister. Muus shows how contradictory statements on crucial points are interpreted in different ways, by the three judges, the witnesses and the attendees involved. Van Kooten and Derwig (who in reality have been in a relationship for 20 years) play flawlessly and there is good supporting work from Nazmiye Oral and Jaap Spijkers as two of the judges. Romana also scores as the Public Prosecutor, but Ellen Parren's self-righteousness as Ploch's lawyer is far too obvious. The makers visited many court cases in preparation and the attention to detail, including minor misunderstandings, is noticeable and lends extra credibility to this successful court drama with a strong final conclusion.

Strong film. Despite the limited location, it is always fascinating - that does not often happen with films that concentrate on one location. Very realistically made, nice little moments that feel real, well acted. However, I did not find Derwig's lawyer very credible and the message was sometimes very obvious. I also got the idea that the characters should really clearly support the theme and not so much be flesh and blood, although the film is written well enough that this is not entirely symbolic. Which makes this simply enjoyable viewing. 3.5*.
