Mardy Fish is known as the last great American male tennis player. In 2010, he put himself in the best shape of his life and emerged as a major fighting force, reaching the World Tour Finals the following year as the top seeded American player. Shortly thereafter, his concerns began to mount as Fish struggled to get through the mental strain during the 2012 US Open quarterfinal against Roger Federer. However, an increasing sense of fear grew worse by the day and everything came to a standstill. Something dark began to take over him.
