Schlaue Meerschweinchen plot

Guinea pigs are popular pets with children, but are often considered silly by adults. However, the small rodents live in complex social systems, as scientists have long shown - but there is still much new to discover. The history of these extremely social and smart animals is long: they were used in ancient rituals, moved into countless children's rooms, enjoyed the status of sacred animals in the Inca Empire and serve as the perfect role model in modern research into human society. This documentary examines the guinea pig as a domestic and wild animal, which is especially at home in the Andes and other regions of South America. We also see guinea pigs in modern behavioral experiments.
