Good film in which a Jewish jeweler transfers his life to his employee at the beginning of the Second World War. A good story that makes for an entertaining film here. The love triangle in which the roles are slowly reversed is central here and the tension between the characters is well worked out.

Beautifully made war drama and convincingly played, especially by Daniel Anteuil, as the Jewish jeweler who hands over his business to his employee and guides his wife and children to a safe part of France. But he himself does not manage to get away and he has to go into hiding in his own house. Then the former relationships between the boss, employee and his wife become completely different and that produces a fascinating spectacle. Then it turns out that well-intentioned people can completely lose track. I just didn't find the ending that believable. Why is François Mercier walking around with the papers of his Jewish boss and does the jeweler indeed reach his wife and children safely? In July 1942? I had a hard time with that.
