Army of One (2020)

Mediocre.

Army of One is one of those films that many viewers will probably forget almost immediately. The film does not really include that much and can only be moderately convincing in many areas. Still, the poster promised something, because the first impression is spectacular and hard. However, the film itself is nowhere really that, but fortunately short.

Thanks to the nice acting, the film manages to captivate just enough, but other than that it doesn't exactly have much to do. The revenge scenes are disappointing and lack the hardness. Also, a powerless feeling and exciting atmosphere is missing. It is a bit of running around in the woods and occasionally taking out your opponent with a weakly edited fight scene, but it is never penetratingly depicted.

I don't need to say much more about it. Army of One does not convince and does not have the attributes to do so. A slightly quicker and fresher director could have done wonders, because this was rather restrained and boring. A revenge film should be able to build on a good revenge part, but unfortunately there is almost no question of that. Always a pity.

Entertaining, simple, smooth film that doesn't bring anything new at all. These kinds of films have been passed many times, yet the film manages to entertain enough thanks to an attractive hard main character (Ellen Hollman) who knows how to take revenge and mom played by Geraldine Singer. Of course there are points of criticism such as the abrupt ending where you do not get a view of the forest Ranger (Melissa McLaney) who brought Brenner back to mom. Or that Bethany (Stephanie Lynn Styles) who is in the plot and works as a secretary for Sheriff Hobbs (Niko Foster). The actions of the sheriff also remain somewhat in the dark after the whole event. 6/10
