Alan and Jill take their teenage sons for a wild hike through the rugged countryside. Along the way, they stop at a clearing for a picnic where they are suddenly joined by two sinister bums. These take the family hostage and do not shy away from violence. The kidnapping makes it clear to everyone that no one can escape his past.

Started off quite nicely, with the necessary tension, but more and more it became a really boring ride. And because I read here and there that it would be brutal at times, I also stayed firmly on my hunger here and so there was little I could warm up to and really had to make a lot of effort to sit it out. A 3/10 is really the max.

There are many such films. The only thing different was the backstory. But unfortunately that same backstory makes the sequence of events rather improbable. Other than a few interesting moments, the whole thing was pretty boring. They tried to create an atmosphere with this, which didn't really work out, just like the little twist at the end. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.

I thought this was quite a reasonable film, of course we have seen more and better films like this before, but I still enjoyed watching it. The actors are surprisingly good because I'm usually not a fan of actors from New Zealand or Australia......
