The older I get, the less I seem to care about IMDb figures and reviews. I am positively surprised!

I don't think Malek fits here like in other roles he played, but still not bad

So I think this is an exciting story at the right pace. A good story is in the details, not in continuous lavish action.

Remaining with questions is not for everyone, that's clear once again

8/10

Would like to break a lance for this film. Certainly not the standard crime film that would probably disappoint the average viewer, but along the way I did gain respect for Hancock's attempt to try it in a slightly different way. The director is not so much looking for suspense and speed, but more in atmosphere and characterization and, in a nice way, chooses not to offer bite-sized chunks, so that the ending, in which many questions remain open can be used as an anti climax. feel. Was able to keep my attention, despite the slow narrative style, but that slow style has a clear function within the whole. You could think of The Little Things as the more realistic version of the masterpiece se7en, which I was irrevocably reminded of in the last half hour(a jaded and very ambitious cop going into an unpredictable confrontation with a serial killer). This is certainly not as good as its possible source of inspiration from 1995, but it is certainly worth it. Good actors also with Denzel who seems older than ever and Malek with a continuous wonderfully intense glance. Jared Leto also convinces as the creepy on duty, but must be careful that someone with his talent does not always end up in the same roles.

A psychological thriller that is well put together and has a strong ending. An elderly deputy, Deacon, (Washington) and a promising young detective, Baxter, team up to catch a serial killer who preys on young girls. This certainly doesn't sound new, but I found the character developments of both cops a big asset and bring the film to an unusual conclusion. The unpredictability in the second hour made the film exciting for me. Nice ending that will stay with me. I kept chewing on it for a while. A film that I personally found to be close to this is Memories of Murder by Bong Joon-Ho (4*). The ridiculously low average on MM is lying.
